Recreation and Events Manager at DUA Miami, Autograph Collection
The Recreation Manager manages the operations of a hotel or resort's recreation facilities, which may include a health club and/or fitness center, pool, and associated locker rooms.
Exempt managers must customarily and regular direct the work of at least 3 full-time associates or their equivalents. Primary duties must consist of administrative, executive, or professional tasks more than 50 percent of the time and job duties must also involve the use of discretion and independent judgement more than 50 percent of the time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preferred College Graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Recreation or a related field.
- Must have a minimum of 1 years’ experience with providing activity programming or related skills.
- Full understanding of any and all software utilized in the Recreation Department as well as being active in civic groups and Recreation Associations.
- Must be able to work in weather extremes varying from below 40 degrees to over 100 degrees, lift at least 40 pounds and push or pull 300 pounds in a cart.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and implements programs meant to promote healthy behavior or physical fitness.
- Schedules and promotes group exercise classes or wellness clinics.
- Inspects fitness equipment or facilities for functionality and conducts basic maintenance or schedules repairs as needed.
- Hire, train and provide direct leadership for the Recreation staff including (but not limited to) Lead Counselors, Counselors, Counselors in Training, volunteers and interns
- Planning and implementing annual, seasonal, monthly and daily activities and reacting to weather conditions to allow members and guests to enjoy activities regardless of conditions
- Develop and promote all areas of the Recreation Program, including music, dance, arts and crafts, cultural arts, nature study, swimming, social recreation and games.
- Develop a working annual budget for Kids Crew and Recreation Events that achieves the budgeted goals through forecasting, expense control, maximizing revenues and effective P&L review
- Follow up on and act upon member and guest feedback, concerns and suggestions related to Kids Crew, recreational events and activities
- Ensure that the safety of our members, guests, and service professionals are maintained at all times working hand in hand with the Security department
- Monitors staff performance in assigned department offering training and evaluation of performance standards on a routine basis
- Assist the Director of Recreation and function as they would in their absence when directed
- Assist and direct the development of the Recreation Staff including Lead Counselors, Counselors, Counselors in Training, volunteers and interns
- Initiates and maintains supply orders and inventory to ensure the department has the necessary items needed to perform its scheduled events and activities
- Attend meetings as required and working with other departments to successfully implement activities for members and guests
- Assist in the Resort’s and surrounding communities’ sustainability or “greening” efforts
