The Project Estimator is responsible for evaluating plans, project specifications, site conditions, and related documentation to prepare accurate earthwork bids. This role also supports negotiations, collaborates with clients, and helps lead the development and mentorship of Junior Estimators and Take-Off Technicians.

The Project Estimator is responsible for evaluating plans, project specifications, site conditions, and related documentation to prepare accurate earthwork bids. This role also supports negotiations, collaborates with clients, and helps lead the development and mentorship of Junior Estimators and Take-Off Technicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze plans, soils reports, specs, and project bid requirements
- Measure quantities and prepare accurate takeoffs
- Enter projects into bid records and maintain bid log
- Maintain proficiency in takeoff software, including updates and improvements
- Train and develop Junior Estimators
- Support Take-Off Technicians with direction and quality reviews
- Promote teamwork, professionalism, and high morale
- Comply with federal, state, and local regulations
- Adhere to Elite's Mission Statement, values, and code of conduct
- Document lessons learned and share with the team
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and plan rack
- Update and improve procedures related to estimating duties
- Report and correct unsafe conditions
- Recommend process improvements
- Promote Elite within the industry and identify new market opportunities
- Obtain competitive material pricing
- Solicit subcontractors for the lowest responsive bids
- Full decision-making authority within the responsibilities of this role
- Set authority levels for direct reports (within your scope)
- Accept or reject bids based on the President's recommendation
- Contact prospects for additional information needed for bids
- Strong time-management and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate clearly with individuals at varying technical levels
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent documentation and record-keeping abilities
- Creativity, initiative, and strong analytical skills
- Strong verbal communication and presentation skills
- Sales and negotiation experience
- Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and digital tools
- Computer takeoff skills required: Civil Image, AGTEK, Carlson, or similar
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Drafting, Architecture, Project Management, Operations Management, or Construction Management preferred (experience may substitute for degree)
- Full-time, Exempt, W2 position.
- Competitive pay at $120,000 to $150,000 based on experience
