The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible to perform routine accounting activities such as maintenance of the general ledger, preparation of various accounting statements and financial reports, accounts payable, and other related functions.

Examples of Duties, includes but is not limited to the following

  • Perform the day-to-day processing of account payable transactions to ensure that municipal finances are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner.
  • Receive and verify invoices and requisitions for goods and services
  • Prepare batches of invoices for data entry
  • Data enter invoices for payment
  • Process backup reports after data entry
  • Manage the weekly check run
  • Record all checks
  • Prepare vendor checks for mailing
  • Maintain listing of accounts payable
  • Maintain the general ledger
  • Maintain updated vendor files and file numbers
  • Ability to analyze complex issues, identify alternative solutions and communicate them effectively with management.
  • Well organized and demonstrated strong problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity and proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Word and advanced skills with Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
  • Hospitality experience a plus.
