Duties And Responsibilities
- Responsible for assisting the Crew Chief in the operation of a field survey crew
- The major objectives are the quality (accuracy, thoroughness, meeting regulatory requirements, public relations) of work, safety, and maintenance of equipment
- Must operate equipment, maintain safe work environment, protect and maintain the equipment and vehicles, accurately and efficiently collect field data and locate features
- Record accurate and clear surveying notes
- Requires a lot of walking outside year-round through all kinds of terrain and in extreme heat and cold
- Set wooden stakes and iron rods, cut and clear brush, trees, etc.
- Adhere to the company’s Safety, Quality Management and Equipment Maintenance policies
- Assisting Registered Professional Surveyors with CAD production, survey research, boundary analysis, easement preparations, legal descriptions, and computing survey points
- Coordinate and work with field crews and other office staff
- Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
- Ability to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rural or urban surroundings
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and walk long distances
- High school diploma or GED required
- Currently enrolled in an associates or bachelor’s degree program in Surveying, Engineering Technology, or related area of study
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D for production activities
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, project coordination, maintain organizational structures, and interact with other design services
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment that is in a growth mode
- Strong listening, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of ALTA surveys, boundary analysis, topographic surveys, preparation of easement documents, legal descriptions, final plat preparation, construction staking
- Full use of Microsoft Office
- Familiar with GIS processes and terminology
- Prior experience with survey field work
