How You’ll Make An Impact

As the Manager, Specialty Services, you will oversee the RMM and Backup teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality managed services. You will lead efforts to maintain system uptime, data integrity, and rapid incident response, while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Your role is pivotal in driving operational excellence, supporting client needs, and developing technical talent within your teams.

Location and Work Expectations

  • This is a remote position; however, team members should be willing and able to travel 5-10% of the time, as necessary.
  • Candidates with proximity to one of our Centers of Excellence are preferred (Lombard, IL; McLean, VA; Shreveport, LA; Overland Park, KS).

What You Will Be Doing

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage and lead the RMM and Backup teams, ensuring efficient 24/7 operations.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop team members, supporting career growth and technical expertise.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to review utilization, status updates, issues, and objectives.
  • Oversee the complete employee lifecycle: hiring, goal setting, performance reviews, feedback, improvement plans, and disciplinary actions.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure all automated alerts and backup-related cases are addressed according to SLAs.
  • Manage priority incidents, especially those impacting data protection and system availability, reporting results to clients and management.
  • Execute disaster recovery plans, coordinating resources to restore systems and recover data.
  • Proactively escalate issues to senior leadership when necessary for timely resolution.
  • Build and maintain robust operational structures and SOPs to support scaling and evolving needs.

Client Service & Communication

  • Provide clear and timely updates to clients and leadership regarding operational statuses, incidents, and next steps.
  • Participate in client meetings to ensure actionable items are addressed and expectations are met.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations and proper ticket escalation.

Strategic Planning & Innovation

  • Manage and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for the RMM and Backup teams.
  • Participate in leadership meetings to review team utilization, staffing, and strategic objectives.
  • Identify and implement emerging technologies and innovative practices to enhance team and client experiences.
  • Continuously improve department performance through collaboration with the Director and strategic initiatives.

Performance Metrics

  • Team utilization and availability

  • Successful execution of backup and recovery operations
  • Client satisfaction and SLA adherence

You’ll be successful in this role if you have experience in/with

  • 5+ years of experience in IT/managed services, with a focus on RMM and backup solutions.
  • 1–3 years of experience managing technical teams.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and incident management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
  • Experience with various RMM platforms.
  • Knowledge of backup technologies, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity principles.
  • Ability to work under pressure and operate independently while maintaining KPIs.
  • Management experience in cross-functional teams.

Required Language Skills

  • Ability to communicate professionally, in English, both written and orally
  • Ability to write business correspondence and process procedures
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public

Bonus points for

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft MCSE, CCNA, NSE-4, ITILv4 Foundation) are a plus.

The base pay range for this position is expected to be between $50,000 and $100,000 per year, plus an annual on-target bonus if applicable, not all roles are subject to a bonus. The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, and PTO. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

Workspace Requirements And Remote Work Policy

Team members must establish a dedicated safe workspace that is free from distractions, hazards, and that is secure from unauthorized access. This includes following Ntiva’s IT User and Security Policies that include but are not limited to password-protecting all equipment, keeping confidential and proprietary documents secure, refraining from using public Wi-Fi, having adequate arrangements in place to avoid significant interruptions from caregiving responsibilities during work hours (except in emergency situations with manager approval). Any remote work away from a team member’s normal expected dedicated safe workspace must be requested by team member, is subject to review by management, and must adhere to Ntiva policies and procedures.
