DIRECTOR OF SERVICE

Job Description

Position Summary

The Director of Service is a bright, articulate individual with a proven track record of leadership and successful financial and operational performance in fire and life safety. Th is individual will assess the current organization, provide management development, and strategic planning for existing operations and potential new business initiatives.

The Director of Service will be a proven leader in the industrial services sector with an energetic drive . Th is individual will also be a commercially minded business leader with experience in developing and implementing strategy and growth .

Job Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Managing and overseeing all fire sprinkler service and inspection team members and processes company-wide
  • P repar ing and adher ing to the service operations budget ; conducts resource analysis with SVP of Operations
  • Monitoring and reporting on metrics involving revenue, gross margin, and productivity
  • Developing, implementing, and continuously improving processes to convert installation clients to inspection sales
  • Assisting in the growth of alarm/extinguisher/suppression service and inspection business
  • Oversees audits and work instructions improvement process to ensure integrity and relevance
  • Seeking out opportunities for multi-office service premier or national accounts
  • Coordinating service operations with p remier a ccounts to ensure that customer needs are being met
  • Ensuring that safety and risk assessment training is delivered to service and inspection employees
  • Developing, augmenting, and updating sales pricing program for inspectors and service sales
  • Proposing ways to leverage technology and process improvement to increase productivity and profitability ; onboarding newer technology as appropriate
  • Traveling to other offices for team member support and coordination with premier or national accounts
  • Performing other duties as assigned by executive management or SVP of Operations

Knowledge

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Higher education degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Familiarity with technical references and codes

Work Experience

  • 5+ y ears leading , managing , and developing multiple teams
  • Fire sprinkler and/or fire alarm design experience is preferred
  • Fire sprinkler and/or fire alarm field experience is preferred
  • Fire sprinkler and/or fire alarm sales experience is preferred

    • Track and e nsure p rofitability of Fire Sprinkler Service and Inspection Divisions
    • Oversight of c hange o rder m anagement , as appropriate
    • Promote and t rack d ivision al g rowth with department goals discussed annually
    • Support and e nsure t eam a dherence to a ll c ompany SOPs – j ob s et Up, c ontracts, c hange o rders, p urchase o rders, a ccounting p rocesses, s ubcontractors, etc.
    • Ensure i nventory c ontrol measures are in place for division
    • Ensure multiple bids for m aterial p urchasing optimization , where appropriate
    • Manage s ubcontractors and ensure review/approval all subcontractor invoices prior to payment
    • Ensure review of b udget vs. a ctual j ob c osting d etails and review findings with department for improvement opportunities
    • Maximize l abor p roduction and e fficiency while maintaining quality standards
    • Overhead r eview – conduct semi-annual meetings with leadership
    • Maintain q uality c ontrol in all aspects of the division
    • Ensure c ustomer s atisfaction and response to c ustomer s atisfaction s urvey feedback improvement opportunities
    • Reduce t urnover and i ncrease Retention within division
    • Training and development of team
    • Input and d evelopment of t raining r equirements
    • Commitment to t raining at all levels for all team members
    • Be an e xpert on e very a spect of y our b usiness/ d ivision
    • Promote t eamwork – maintain positive interactions within your team, local office, same department in other offices, a ccounting, etc.
