Finance Manager at Vancouver Bulk Terminal
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced finance professional to join our team and play a pivotal role in driving financial performance, reporting, and strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in financial operations, accounting standards, and leadership, with the ability to manage and improve core financial processes.
The Finance Manager of Vancouver Bulk Terminal (“VBT”) will be responsible for managing overall financial position for the company, working in conjunction with the company’s financial services provider to provide regular and sound managerial information to the Managing Director. They will also function as Project Controller for the construction project, ensuring robust cost control and schedule performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
- Manage budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategic plans.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimization and revenue growth.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (GAAP; IFRS knowledge is a plus) and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support business initiatives.
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and financial controls.
- Support the implementation and optimization of financial systems, ERP tools, and process automation.
- Assist with internal and external audits and ensure audit readiness.
- Assist Managing Director and management team with Fiscal Evaluation and Performance, Continuous Improvements, Financial and Operational Expense Analysis, Internal audits, Forecasting, Projections and project management.
- Development and Monthly Update of the S-Curve
- Monthly Budget Control, Reporting and Forecasting
- Financial Performance Analysis
- Management of the bank loan with the support of Company’s financial services provider.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, industrial engineer or a related field.
- 3 to 7 years of experience in finance, accounting, or a related role, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret financial documents and spreadsheets
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
- Proven ability to manage financial operations and ensure regulatory compliance.
- In-depth understanding of GAAP; working knowledge of IFRS is beneficial.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in project control.
- Responsible, assertive, analytical, detail-oriented, efficient, and well organized
- Solid judgment; critical thinking skills; a sense of teamwork and community and able to handle multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
Preferred:
- Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or ACCA.
- Experience working in a scale-up, or fast-paced evolving environment.
- Construction experience relating to job cost tracking, progress billing, percent complete, construction law, and lien releases
- Demonstrated ability to lead financial transitions or change management projects.

This role requires the ability to see, hear, speak, and communicate clearly. Manual dexterity is needed for operating standard office equipment. The position may require occasional travel.
This role requires the ability to stand, walk, and bend. It may involve regular exposure to outdoor environments and active work sites. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required depending on the task. Some positions may require travel between job sites.
Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in a clean, well-lit, and climate-controlled office environment with low to moderate noise levels. Occasional visits to field locations may be required.
Work may be performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, including active job sites with varying weather conditions and potential exposure to noise, dust, and other occupational hazards. Safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) are provided and required as appropriate.

- Pay or shift range: $88,200 USD to $110,300 USD
- The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
