Project Engineer - Don Plant (Pocatello, ID) at Simplot Company

Summary

This role supports production efforts through management of plant maintenance, reliability, and upgrade projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing company rules and procedures.
• Evaluate potential projects with plant and company stakeholders. This may require working within a larger project team by managing and/or designing a portion of that project.
• Obtain vendor/contractor quotations for proposed work scope. Responsible for gaining stakeholder alignment on all proposals, feasibility studies and vendor/construction packages.
• Prepare project scope of work documents, budgets, and schedules. Obtain approvals for execution.
• Control project costs by approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts.
• Maintains project schedule by monitoring progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems efficiently with minimal impact to plant operations over entire project lifecycle (development, design, construction and project closeout).
• Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, recommending actions. Routinely communicate with project stakeholders on status.
• Ensure timely closeout of projects including handover of documents for archiving.
• Ability to work additional time as needed including weekends for any project completion or oversight.
  
  
  

Typical Education

• Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university
  
  
  

Relevant Experience

• 3+ years related experience or training.
• Experience in Phosphate Fertilizer mining and manufacturing is a plus.
• Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and manage projects.
• Must be able to show initiative and be a 'self-starter' to achieve working goals.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
