Job Overview

Works with patients newly diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder ages 5 years or younger in the outpatient setting. Evaluates each patient's psychotherapeutic needs and provides psychotherapy, behavioral support, and caregiver education/support, as indicated.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s Degree
  • NJ Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • AHA BLS Provider Certification
  • Tact, initiative and judgment in performance of duties
  • Minimum one-year of experience working with children under five years old and their caregivers

Preferred

  • Experience with young children diagnosed with autism
  • Familiarity with parenting programs for parents of young children with autism

Certifications And Licenses Required

  • NJ LCSW
  • AHA BLS Provider Certification

Essential Functions

  • Collaborates with developmental pediatrician or other diagnostician and caregiver to identify treatment goal
  • Provides effective individual, family group psychotherapy as indicated with emphasis on parenting of young children with autism or related issues
  • Identifies and assists with linkage to community supports as needed
  • Identifies realistic goals for psychotherapy
  • Attends program development and case conferences as indicated for patients treated or evaluated
  • Provides in-services to staff and community agencies as requested by Supervisor
  • Disseminates findings accurately and sensitively, according to Department policy
  • Provides supervision to staff, fellows, interns and externs as indicated
  • Provides effective team consultation as needed
  • Meets minimum annual expected volumes
