The Role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), The Deputy CFO plays a critical role in supporting the CFO in overseeing the financial operations of the organization. The Deputy CFO acts as a strategic partner, operational leader, and intended successor to the CFO, ensuring the organization's financial health and compliance. The Deputy CFO works closely with the CFO to execute the financial vision and strategy. They align priorities, ensuring the Deputy CFO's initiatives support the CFO's broader objectives. As Deputy CFO, you will gain exposure to board meetings, investor relations, and strategic negotiations under the CFO's guidance while being responsible for operational performance and team leadership. In this role you will support the CFO by delivering reliable results and flagging potential risks or opportunities. You will establish a shared commitment with the CFO to the organization's success thus, fostering a strong, purposeful partnership
Direct operational responsibilities will be dependent on the Deputy CFO's past experience, demonstrated success in the joining-up process, and execution of assigned projects/tasks. Intended future responsibilities include treasury and reporting functions; revenue cycle management; oversight and supervision of the Controller and Financial Analysis and Planning positions; and serving as the CFO for the organization's Federally Qualified Health Center Look Alike operations.
With a proven track record in financial planning, budgeting, accounting, and regulatory compliance, the Deputy CFO serves as both an operational steward and a strategic advisor. The position requires a deep knowledge of governmental accounting, strong understanding of the behavioral health landscape, the ability to manage risk, and the skill to communicate complex financial information clearly to executives, board members, funders, and external stakeholders.

Experience/Education
Progressive experience in financial management to include 3 years in a senior leadership role
Strong knowledge of GAAP, audit processes, grants management and compliance standards
Requires advanced organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
Excellent communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills
Proficiency with financial systems and ERP software; ability to leverage data for strategic decision-making
Demonstrated governmental accounting and fiscal management experience
Experience in behavioral healthcare and/or primary healthcare is a plus
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or economics. Advance degrees such as an MBA or CPA/CMA certification preferred
