We are currently hiring a Quality Lab Technician - Plastics Compound located in Sparks, NV. Starting at $25 an hour.

Job Summary

The Quality Lab Technician - Plastics Compound is responsible for the inspection, assessment, verification/testing, and documentation of process and product quality on all goods and raw materials used in the manufacture of our product and finished goods to the customer and acceptability thereof. Included in these duties are instrument care, calibration and documentation. Support and participate in ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the follow. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Following standard methods and techniques, repetitively inspects and tests product to ensure it meets customer and product specification, and alerts Lab Supervisor when standards are not met.
  • Puts questionable product on hold, organizes re-work if necessary, and inspects returned product.
  • Maintenance of the Q.C. Lab records and reports.
  • The authority to withhold items that do not meet all requirements.
  • Informs Quality Manager of all rejects found within the lab.
  • Performs weekly calibration checks on all lab
  • Maintains the calibration schedule for internal and external equipment calibrations.
  • Support the Quality Manager in all aspects of the quality function.
  • Maintain a highly professional attitude and demeanor.
  • Maintains all equipment and advises the Quality Manager of repairs when necessary.
  • Raw material testing
  • Promotes safety by:
    • Actively assesses activities on a constant basis to ensure no unsafe actions or results will occur.
    • Ensuring the housekeeping in the immediate and surrounding work area is maintained or improved to the highest level possible.
    • Wearing personal protective equipment (eye protection and gloves) when dealing with hazardous materials and heat.
    • Participate in safety observations and inspections.
    • Participate in safety committee
  • Ensures Quality products and processes are maintained by:
    • Understanding and supporting both quality policies and the Quality System.
    • Performing work at a level that ensures quality of this position’s work meets or exceeds internal specifications.
    • Accurately complete all paperwork as required by ISO9001; 2015.
    • Identifying and correcting, if possible, any identified quality issues in the department.
    • Participating in system or quality-based training provided by the company or recommended by the company.
    • Ability to make decisions relating to acceptable and unacceptable material
    • Ability to work unsupervised.
    • Maintain strong lines of communication with production, shipping and customer service.
    • Produce lot certifications
Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to operate computer for data input and retrieval.
  • Ability to use computer software and programs
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and legibly complete time cards and work orders. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and read blueprints and technical drawings, such as machine, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups situations to other employees of the organization. Ability to effective present information and respond to questions form groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variable in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic, flammable or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
