  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in a policy, legal, Trust and Safety, or technology environment.
  • Experience implementing technical policies related to child and adolescent content safety.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in an academic field focused on pediatric or adolescent development, child protection policy, or the psychological impact of digital products on children and youth.
  • Experience with child or adolescent development, tech product content safety policies to protect child users, or the psychological or developmental impacts of digital products on youth.
  • Experience with the development, implementation, and maintenance of policy.
  • Experience working in policy and content analysis, or Trust and Safety.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in an fluid environment.

About The Job

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. And you take pride in knowing that every day you are working hard to promote trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.

The Global Policy and Standards team is made up of subject-matter-experts who promote user trust and uphold Google’s policies. In this role, you will focus on driving the strategy and policy to help ensure Google has exceptional policies across its products to address egregious harms related to non-consensual intimate imagery and child safety. You will be part of a team that is part of a cross-functional effort to address child sexual abuse and exploitation online in order to promote and protect user safety.

The Kids and Family Product Policy team is made up of subject-matter experts that work closely with cross-functional partners to ensure that Google's approach to Kids and Families policies is principled, consistent, and evidence-based. Our team does this by developing and strategizing policy, identifying emergent risks and gaps, and providing subject-matter expertise to partner teams.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $129,000-$189,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Drive the development of policies and strategies that ensure Google's products have leading policies that ensure age-appropriate experiences for kids and teens.
  • Identify emergent risks and policy gaps, and providing subject-matter expertise to partner teams and help implement policies that protect people from harmful content and protect Google's brand.
  • Manage policy escalations and suggest policy and process improvements. Work cross-functionally to develop and launch products that promote user trust and uphold Google’s policies.
  • Track industry trends, analyze policy issues facing technology platforms, make recommendations on how to address these challenges across multiple Google products.
  • Work with sensitive content or situations and will be exposed to graphic, controversial, and upsetting topics or content.
