Availability: Position requires regular weekday, evening hours, weekend hours, and occasional holidays. Hours may fluctuate based on the seasonal needs of the Gift Shop.

General Summary

Deliver excellent customer service to Garden visitors by educating and assisting in the sale of merchandise, memberships, and Garden admissions. Lead efforts in receiving, displaying and tracking the correct merchandise at the appropriate time keeping merchandise displays and presentation neat, orderly, and attractive.

Essential Duties

  • Responsible for executing receiving and recording incoming merchandise by verifying the products against invoices, documenting and entering products into inventory management system and ensuring the merchandise is tagged for sale correctly and placed for sale in the correct location. Restocking from current inventory and keeping merchandise displays and stock room neat, orderly, and attractive.
  • Inspects merchandise for damages, completes proper reporting (internally & externally) and facilitates communication with vendor for resolution.
  • Maintains accurate records for tracking and reporting sales and stock levels of all merchandise and supplies in Gift Shop.
  • Ensures organizational cleanliness and merchandise replenishment from inventory to sales floor with correct signage and maintains orderly stockroom.
  • Demonstrates exemplary customer service in communication with Garden guests and team members. Educate and assist guest needs for all Gift Shop and Garden-related inquiries, selling merchandise, admission, memberships and participate in suggestive selling and add-on sales. Process phone orders and special orders according to established procedures.
  • Executes successfully all the daily required responsibilities, processes and procedures for open/close of the Gift Shop and Admissions departments, including; POS system functions, reporting, answering phones, suggestive selling, handling cash, and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

High school graduate with 2+ years of retail or customer service experience that includes utilizing POS software and an element of design/merchandising retail shops.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience participating in an inventory count process.

  • Physical Demands: Occasional physical activity: lifting and carrying up to 15 lbs, climbing a step ladder, standing for long periods of time.
  • Work Environment: Office and retail environment. Work is performed primarily indoors with occasional outdoor activity for events and or programs in all weather conditions and traversing across uneven terrain.
  • Equipment: General office equipment, point of sale (POS) system, tablets, 2-way radios.
