Description

Job Title: Fitness and Wellness Director

Reports To: Assistant General Manager

Position Summary

The Fitness and Wellness Director is responsible for the strategic leadership and daily operations of The Bridgewater Club’s fitness center, tennis and pickleball facilities, and aquatic complexes. This role oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of health and wellness programs that align with the club’s mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Fitness and Wellness Director fosters a culture of excellence, member engagement, and continuous improvement through exemplary service and relationship-building.

Leadership

  • Staff Leadership to include recruit, train, supervise and evaluate schedule. Ensure that the Mission and Core values are upheld.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship, while creating a working environment that fosters growth and development.
  • Manage scheduling to ensure adequate coverage for the fitness center and special events.
  • Monitor and maintain SOP’s to ensure a consistent exceptional service is provided. Assists in developing and updating policies and procedures. Follows all safety and policies and procedures.
  • Ability to support members and their health & wellness through relationship building & use of open communication.
  • As part of the Management Team, serves as Manager on Duty, attends weekly Management meetings and assists with marketing/planning for variety of Club Events.
  • Work closely with other managers ensuring relationship building, retention and high quality of service for members and the greater community.

Program & Facility Management

  • Program Oversight & Development for Aquatics, Wellness Services and Youth Activities.
  • Develop, oversee, market and evaluate all programing as it relates to health and fitness.
  • Assess the programs and services regularly to ensure they meet the needs of our members.
  • Oversee and ensure the pool operations are upheld.
  • Oversee group fitness schedule and programing.
  • Oversee the scheduled services, Pilates, Massage Therapy, Personal Training and Mind Body programming.
  • Manage the safety and effectiveness of the childcare and youth activities programming.
  • Ensure cleanliness, maintenance, safety and repair of all equipment for fitness center and group fitness room and other fitness related equipment.
  • Ensure quality and safety of programs and equipment keeping up with industry best practices.
  • Manage schedules, inspections, equipment rotation, and scheduled replacement.

Fiscal Management

  • Responsible for fitness department budget (which includes aquatics, youth activities and fitness and wellness programs.)
  • Responsible for maintenance, repairs and life cycle planning for fitness equipment.
  • Manage payroll for fitness staff.
  • Oversee the equipment purchasing process through researching equipment and services, developing RFP’s, generating price comparisons and compiling member feedback regarding various pieces of equipment and supplies in the facility.

General

  • Adhere to club policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Establish and build positive relationships with coworkers and membership.
  • Assist with marketing/planning for variety of special events.

Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication with management team, staff and members.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional demeanor and leadership presence.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fitness program management, staff supervision, and budget oversight.
  • Experience in developing and delivering health and wellness programs.
  • Must have ability to manage labor as required by anticipating business trends and activity.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills are required.

Certifications

  • Current CPR/First Aid certification
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Publisher

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach.
  • Must be able to work near mechanical equipment and respond to physical demands of the role.

Compensation

  • The compensation package for the Fitness Director is an annual base salary and bonus plan. In addition, there are medical and dental benefits, 401K and vacation/personal/sick time off in accordance with the Bridgewater Club policies. In addition, there is access to HAS or FSA programs; discounts on food & beverage, cell phone expense and some club privileges.
