VPP is building an AI-enabled platform to help our community deliver the highest-quality care efficiently. Our software will intelligently support staff and clinicians to operate at peak performance. We’re looking for a hands-on Full-Stack Developer to translate our vision into production-grade APIs, data models, and front-end integrations that integrate with various third-party applications. You’ll partner closely with veterinarians, staff, and engineers in a try/fail-fast, AI-driven development culture.

We’re looking for a hands-on Full-Stack Developer to translate our vision into production-grade APIs, data models, and front-end integrations that integrate with various third-party applications. You’ll partner closely with veterinarians, staff, and engineers in a try/fail-fast, AI-driven development culture.
What you’ll do:
- Own product delivery: Convert user stories into well-designed services, APIs, data models, and UI integrations across web, tablet, and phone.
- Build extensible third-party integrations: Build and maintain integrations with Practice Information Management Systems (PIMS), external lab vendors, payment processors, and messaging providers.
- Support data and workflow needs: Model workflow-heavy domains with clear states, auditability, and role-based permissions.
- Integrate humans with AI: productionize and deploy AI models into human-in-the-loop flows.
- Ensure quality & observability: Add automated tests, logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting, deployed in a CI/CD workflow.
- Bolster security & compliance: Implement privacy-by-design, secrets management, least-privilege access, encryption in transit at/rest, and secure data retention practices.
- Establish DevOps: Containerize services (Docker), define IaC, and run in cloud environments. Contribute to runbooks and incident response.
- Empower UI/UX: Work closely with our UI/UX developer on API contracts and edge cases.
- Collaborate with Data & Analytics: Partner with Data Scientists to define and monitor KPIs and develop data models and data provisioning services that enable deep analytics of our operations and platform.
- 5+ years building and operation production web applications end-to-end in modern stacks.
- Proficiency in one or more back-end languages (Node.js/TypeScript, Python) and SQL (Postgres or similar).
- Experience designing REST and/or GraphQL APIs, data models, transactions, and migrations.
- Hands-on with cloud platforms (Azure preferred), Docker containers, CI/CD, and environment configuration.
- Familiar with front-end frameworks (React) and component-driven integration with design systems.
- Strong grounding in testing, observability, and performance profiling.
- Track record shipping workflow-heavy products with permissions, statuses/approvals, and audit trails.
- Background in event-driven architectures (queues/streams), idempotency, and integration resiliency patterns.
- Metrics-driven development mindset with a data-first approach to problem solving.
- A team player who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Extreme growth mindset; deep humility with unwavering resolve to drive exceptional performance.
- Background in healthcare or veterinary services; familiarity with PIMS or EHR integrations or charging/billing systems.
- Exposure to ML model serving.
- Knowledge of security practices for PHI-like or sensitive operational data, including threat modeling and SOC2/HIPAA-adjacent controls.
- Comfort contributing across the stack, from data modeling and APIs to light front-end work.
