We are searching for a candidate with:
- Five plus years of warehouse and shipping supervision/management experience in a manufacturing organization.
- Experience leading/supervising a union workforce highly preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of transportation, warehousing and manufacturing processes and functional interdependencies.
- Ability to operate with high urgency and personal initiative, while maintaining excellent coordination and communication with staff.
- Computer skills – ERP experience and strong Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) skills required.
- Associate’s, or Bachelor’s in warehouse management, logistics or a related field is a plus.
- Continuous Improvement and Lean or Lean Six Sigma experience a plus.
A typical day may include:
- Utilize, warehouse management and distribution skills to ensure timely and accurate shipments to Internal and External Customers, safely and efficiently
- Partner with Sales team to coordinate logistics with 3rd party logistics companies, parcel services, and/or customer pick-up.
- Coordinate and communicate outbound schedules within your department. Arrange staffing to support your department's schedules and needs.
- Utilize a warehouse management system (WMS), enterprise resource system (ERP), or other system to track and analyze processes and performance.
- Establish a strong partnership with Production leadership to support overall operational objectives and key performance metrics.
- Implement the company’s safety program to achieve accident-free performance.
- Recommend hiring, termination, discipline, promotion, demotion of employees within span of control.
- Resolve worker issues/complaints or submit unsettled grievances to next level of management for action.
- Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.
- Optimize efficient layouts, workflows, and utilization of warehouse space. Monitor the safety and security of goods and materials.
- Compile and analyze relevant data to develop solutions to complex warehouse and shipping issues.
- Support Continuous Improvement initiatives to improve operational efficiency and implement Lean/Visual management techniques. Directs Lean initiatives and processes as identified/required.
- Develop strong, collaborative relationships across the business – production, maintenance, sales, finance, etc. – in order to meet high service expectations and business objectives.
- Ensure that subordinates submit all required paperwork on time, complete, accurate, and legible.
- Effectively communicate departmental and plant wide goals to employees in a productive manner.
- Responsible for enforcing all company policies and procedures, which include safety, housekeeping, attendance, quality, and administrative.
- Assist subordinates with assigned tasks for training purposes or in emergency situations.
- Provide leadership and direct all finished goods warehouse and shipping activities on site ensuring best practice/compliance with Quality, Health & Safety, environmental.
- Any other responsibilities deemed necessary by Leadership.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Full Time, must be flexible for occasional night or weekend work as necessary
- Located in: Taylor, Michigan
