The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority is seeking a dedicated and experienced journey level electrician to join our Airfield Maintenance team as an Airfield Maintenance Electrician IV. In this role, you will under general supervision install, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on high voltage electrical equipment, electronic apparatus and auxiliary equipment.
The Airfield Maintenance Division is a key member of the Facilities and Maintenance Department. The Airfield Electrician Technician IV performs journey level electrical work in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of Airfield electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with standard practices of the electrical trade. Work is performed independently or under the general supervision of an Airfield Supervisor.

Key Accountabilities
Under general supervision, performs skilled journey-level electrical maintenance work in the installation, repair and alteration of airfield high voltage electrical equipment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Minimum Qualifications
Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent certificate. An equivalent combination of experience and training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Required Experience: Three (3) years of experience as a skilled journey-level electrician.
Required Licensing: A valid journey-level electrician’s license as well as a valid driver's license is required at the time of application.

- Installing, maintaining and repairing high voltage airfield electrical equipment, electronic apparatus, auxiliary equipment and back-up generators.
- Performs inspections and diagnostic assessments on electrical equipment, systems, and components to identify airfield maintenance electrical needs.
- Performs preventative maintenance on electrical systems, lighting and controls.
- Minimizes the operational effect of equipment and electrical failures by troubleshooting, locating, and repairing faulty circuits and equipment.
- Performs airfield snow removal operations by keeping the runways, ramps, and taxiways clear through the use of snowplows, sweepers, blowers and hand shovels.
- Estimates supplies, materials and other costs associated with repair and preventative maintenance projects.
- Maintains records of airfield maintenance and repair activities by completing FAA compliant log books, status reports and other paperwork.
- Incorporates and follows federal, state and local safety standards when performing necessary electrical work.
- Operates a variety of tools used in the installation, service, and repair of electrical/electronic systems including hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
- Assist with aircraft removal.
- On occasion, may be required to assist other Airfield trades with their duties.
- Participate in snow removal by keeping the runways clear through the use of snowplows, sweepers, blowers and hand shovels.
- May act as an Emergency Staging Area Coordinator.
- This position may be deemed to be essential personnel as part of RTAA’s Emergency Response Team and may be required to respond to airport incidents as requested/required.
