SUPPORT SERVICE WORKER at Buckelew Programs Inc
Buckelew Programs is a non-profit, behavioral healthcare organization with a mission to promote recovery, resilience and hope by providing behavioral health and support services that enhance quality of life.
We are seeking Support Service Worker to join us in growing the Athena House program, a woman and non-binary individual-only licensed and certified residential treatment program in Sonoma County that provides welcoming, recovery-oriented services to individuals with substance abuse issues. This is a part-time schedule working 11 pm - 7 am, Sunday and Monday overnight shifts.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Enter data into systems ensuring the accuracy of data entered into those systems in accordance with predetermined protocols. Provide other clerical support as directed including photocopying, compiling packets, etc.
- Cleaning duties such as washing dishes, vacuuming, moping, washing clothes and linens, and cleaning bathrooms, and ensuring the safety of the facility.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of client food, supplies and other facility needs.
- Organize and maintain historical files in accordance with required retention standards.
- Monitor client status in and out of facility. Report any concerns to supervisor or Detox Counselor on shift.
- Be aware of facilities needs and report maintenance problems to supervisor.
- Maintain good boundaries and exercise confidentiality concerning clients.
- Participate in staff training and all staff meetings.
- Maintain structure of the facility and understand the mission of the program and always work towards it.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
Education & Experience: Minimum of a High School Diploma required. Must have proficient written and verbal communication skills. Experience in data entry and basic clerical functions of not less than one year. Recent and/or relevant experience working with the population of the mentally disabled and/or dual-diagnosed population is preferred. Have proven knowledge and understanding of AA/NA Twelve-Step programs and resources. Certification as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor or currently in the process of obtaining the Certification (CAARH or other training approved by The State Department of Alcohol/Drug Programs) a plus.
Skills & Abilities: Computer literate with data entry skills at an intermediate level. Type 45 WPM, accurately. Ability to relate well with others, to balance many tasks and responsibilities simultaneously, to be empathic, warm, firm and supportive with clients. Possess and use good written and verbal communication skills. Possess a willingness and desire to learn and grow within this position and the program. Understand and know how to work as a team player. First Aid/CPR training/certification preferred. Valid California driver’s license with an insurable driving record preferred. Have at least two years continuous sobriety, if in recovery. Flexible schedule required.
Physical Requirements: Capable of the following intermittent activities: stretching, bending, kneeling, twisting, squatting, reaching above and below the shoulder, pushing, pulling, grasping and lifting up to 40 pounds. Capable of the following extended activities: walking, driving, writing, standing, hearing and sitting. Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically. Applicants are required to complete and clear a TB test as required by Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs.
