Alpha is establishing a flagship campus in this city, and we're looking for a leader who already knows Houston's educational landscape. You'll oversee 15 plus Guides responsible for coaching and motivating students while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No "teaching". Lots of action. Pure leadership.

Your objective: guarantee every student enjoys school, progresses at twice the speed of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life competencies. This is not a conventional Principal position. You'll maintain rigorous standards, drive decisions with data, and create Houston's premier school from the ground up.

What You Will Be Doing

• Launch Alpha's flagship Houston location: Execute Alpha's three commitments to 100 plus students from day one with operational excellence in every area.
• Conduct live workshops with K through 12 students on life skills: Lead compelling one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, giving and receiving feedback. Apply Alpha's playbook to guarantee students develop skills conventional schools overlook while enjoying the experience.
• Drive every student toward 100 percent goal achievement: Develop personalized motivational frameworks for each student. Apply data-driven methods to address resistance and maintain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student reaching their objectives.
• Develop Guides to peak performance: Utilize quantitative and qualitative data to pinpoint performance deficiencies. Provide precise, actionable guidance in coaching sessions and monitor progress. Maintain team accountability through logic and objectivity, not empathy that weakens standards.
• Execute data-driven campus leadership: Evaluate performance across staff, operations, parent engagement, and culture. Identify problems, perform root cause analysis, consult stakeholders, implement quantifiable improvements. Monitor every decision and refine based on outcomes.
• Uphold excellence without exception: Establish and sustain Alpha's quality benchmark for students and staff. Execute difficult decisions when performance is inadequate. Set the standard through your own example on campus.
  
  

Principal Key Responsibilities

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
• At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field
• Direct experience building and managing teams of at least 15 people with full hiring and firing authority
• Deep knowledge of the Houston or wider Texas education landscape. This insight into local student needs, community dynamics, and competitive school environment is highly valuable to Alpha's Houston launch.
• Experience working with youth ages 5 through 14
• Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement
• Passion for transforming education. Belief that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
• Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable in new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch
• Compelling and energetic speaker who commands attention from rooms full of students or staff
• Able to relate to K through 12 students, understand their interests and culture, serve as a positive role model
• Legally authorized to work in the United States

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $100 USD/hour, which equates to $200,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
