In order to be considered for this position the candidate must be serving permanently in the title of Clerical Associate, or be reachable on the open-competitive list for Exam# 1190/3120.
The Permits and Customer Service Group (PCS) seek to hire one (1) Clerical Associate to work in both the mail room and the file room. The selected candidates will be responsible for processing daily incoming mail, perform data entry by recording the various categories of mail into a statistical database, bundling, and preparing outgoing mail for delivery and transporting outgoing mail, via automobile, to the post office.
The selected candidate will be responsible for storage and maintenance of all folders containing applications for Parking and Permits for People with Disabilities (PPPD) and all supporting documentation submitted by applicants; provide support service to the City PPPD unit by retrieving and providing file folders for the staff who process PPPD permits and prepare old and inactive files and documents for archive. The selected candidate will be required to perform special projects or assignments related to overall unit needs and objectives, as needed.
Work Location: 30-30 Thomson Avenue, Long Island City, NY 11101
Hours/Shift: 35 Hrs./M-F/8am-4pm, 8:30am-4:30pm or 9am-5pm

Minimum Qualifications
Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
Preferred Skills
