Overview

The Sr. Director of Product Management will serve as the strategic and operational leader responsible for driving the success of a key product in the SafetySmart portfolio that serves the public safety technology sector. This role encompasses end-to-end business, product, and corporate development leadership—blending hands-on product strategy with forward-looking business growth initiatives, spanning market and competitive research, roadmap planning, technical execution, and cross-functional enablement.

The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of public safety operations and technology, strong business acumen, and a proven ability to align technical innovation with mission-critical customer needs. This leader will leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced analytics to enhance decision-making, improve operational outcomes, and accelerate product innovation across the organization.

Essential Responsibilities/Duties

  • Strategic & Market Leadership
  • Own the end-to-end product strategy—from market discovery through product launch, adoption, and lifecycle management.
  • Conduct ongoing market and competitive research to identify trends, customer needs, and opportunities within the public safety ecosystem (local, state and federal law enforcement, and government groups).
  • Develop a strategic perspective on AI adoption in public safety, identifying use cases that enhance detection, prevention, and response capabilities.
  • Define and monitor key business metrics—market share, adoption, retention, and profitability—while ensuring alignment with corporate goals.
  • Build business cases to support investment decisions and resource allocation across the product portfolio.
  • Identify emerging markets and adjacencies that align with the company’s technology and mission.
  • Lead financial and strategic assessments of potential partners or acquisition targets, in collaboration with Finance, Legal, and Executive teams.
  • Roadmap & Technical Planning
  • Lead the creation and execution of the multi-quarter product roadmap, balancing market opportunity, technical feasibility, and business impact.
  • Partner with engineering to translate high-level product vision into actionable technical plans, architecture direction, and delivery milestones.
  • Oversee technical trade-offs, system dependencies, and long-term platform scalability.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use AI tools (e.g., data visualization, prompt engineering, generative AI assistants, and model validation frameworks) to accelerate workflows, insights, and communication.
  • Ensure alignment of technical strategy with customer requirements, compliance standards, and security best practices (e.g., CJIS. SOC2).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Operations to align product plans with go-to-market strategies and customer engagement initiatives.
  • Drive cross-functional reviews to capture feedback and ensure product direction reflects real-world operational challenges.
  • Lead internal enablement and training on new product features and releases, ensuring teams are equipped to communicate value and support adoption.
  • Serve as the primary bridge between technical and business stakeholders, ensuring clarity and alignment across all levels.
  • Leadership & Execution
  • Lead a cross functional team indirectly, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and responsible AI exploration.
  • Establish structured product development and feedback loops that ensure responsiveness to customer needs and market dynamics.
  • Represent the product portfolio in executive discussions, customer briefings, and industry events.
  • Champion a data-driven, AI-empowered culture that values experimentation, transparency, and measurable results.

5 Strategic Partnerships & Corporate Development

  • Support corporate development activities by evaluating potential partnerships, integrations, and acquisitions that enhance the company’s product ecosystem
  • Provide strategic input on build-buy-partner decisions, integration feasibility, and product synergies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in product management, including at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience in the public safety industry, with knowledge of law enforcement, emergency management, or government technology solutions.
  • Proven track record leading AI-driven product initiatives or incorporating data science and automation into product strategy.
  • Strong understanding of modern software development practices, APIs, Analytics, data integration, and cloud-based systems.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze product P&L, ARR growth, and ROI metrics.
  • Skilled in financial and strategic modeling to support pricing decisions, resource planning, investment trade-offs and corporate developmemt.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Travel: Up to 25%
