Job Description
General Functions:
Supervises and administers educational components and assists the manager/curator in program management. This position is responsible professional level supervisory and administrative position. An employee assigned to this classification of work is responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and controlling the educational activities of a program. Emphasis is on the control function of management to ensure compliance with educational goals.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the manager who reviews work through conferences, reports, and results achieved.
Representative Duties/Assignments:
Head Start
Head Start
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelors or advanced degree in early childhood or early childhood development and two (2) years teaching experience to include one (1) year supervisory experience.
Or graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelors or advanced degree in a related field and six (6) documented credit hours in early childhood education or child development and two (2) years responsible teaching experience to include one (1) year supervisory experience.

Head Start
- Establishes goals for the assigned education program.
- Develops and monitors the use of the curriculum guide.
- Monitors center and home-base operations through on-site visits and observations for compliance with performance standards.
- Provides on-site instructions for teaching staff in a wide variety of educational areas such as methodology, resource use, developmental concepts, etc.
- Coordinates with Head Teacher and Center Manager in monitoring daily lesson planning and ensures that the assessed needs of the children are being met.
- Acts as liaison between the department and Center staff.
- Maintains educational resource file and orders educational supplies.
- Assists in interviewing and recommends applicants for positions in the education component.
- Coordinates in-service training and assists with implementation of SAVI process.
- Coordinates staff development and in-service training.
- Involves parents in the education experience.
- Assists with informing community agencies and organizations about the Head Start program.
- Maintains applicable Center operations records.
- Performs other duties as required.
