As the Refugee Employment Specialist, your primary responsibilities encompass Providing ongoing supports to address barriers to employment, starting with conducting intakes with clients, discussing job opportunities and ongoing work readiness training. The Refugee Employment Specialists will help complete job applications, provide interview preparation, and assist with completing new hire paperwork and on-boarding, assist client throughout the employment process, from start to self-sufficiency. Transport and accompany clients to interviews with employers and advocate on behalf of clients. Transport and accompany clients to drug tests or other employment-related appointments, as needed. Ensure clients have required clothing and equipment for job. Outreach to new companies and employers who may not be familiar with hiring refugees, explain, and educate on documents required. Assist clients at the new workplace, help explain processes and work environment to ensure they full understand expectations and rules. Support the employer and client, including assisting with trainings, orientations and issues as they arise. Monitor progress and collect documentation from client and employer for grant records, including pay-stubs. Ensure timely and accurate completion of case notes, enter and track billing in NYS BIN system. Assess and evaluate the psycho-social factors contributing to client’s situation to determine capabilities. Refer clients to community resources and other organizations. Connect clients with childcare, transportation and conduct bus training, refer clients and ensure they are attending ESL, connect with DSS, mental health services, other services as needed. Network with community service providers, employers and other partners to assist clients.Work as a team to ensure monthly job placement goals are met. Occasional work after-hours and on weekends, as needed. Complete all necessary reporting forms for government agencies and funding sources. Maintain appropriate communication with employment staff and other funding sources. Maintain guidelines established by the funding sources and Catholic Charities policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned.
This Position is Full time at 35 hours a week. Pay for This position is $23.00 Per Hour

Education and/or Experience Required at Entry
- Associates Degree in a Human Services related field.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience working with vulnerable individuals.
- Alternatively, a combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- Valid N.Y.S. Driver's License.
- Registered and insured vehicle.
- N.Y.S. Child Abuse Registry clearance.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
- Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings at clients' homes and/or community facilities that may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to work with children/adults in a challenging and active environment.
