Position Summary
The Specialist Engineer - Electrical is responsible for all aspects of the electrical design of Airport Ground Support Equipment such as pushback tractors, baggage tractors, baggage loaders, mobile stairs, and maintenance platforms. This position includes system design and system architecture development; electrical control system design and development; control software definition, programming, documentation, and development. A successful Electrical Engineer will be able to conceptualize solutions to technical problems, work independently to generate the necessary drawings and design documents, and communicate technical issues effectively with all levels of management.

This position includes system design and system architecture development; electrical control system design and development; control software definition, programming, documentation, and development. A successful Electrical Engineer will be able to conceptualize solutions to technical problems, work independently to generate the necessary drawings and design documents, and communicate technical issues effectively with all levels of management.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Layout of the Electrical system architecture for new product development and prototyping.
- Definition of the control system architecture for new product development.
- Initial programming and maintenance of unit controls in vehicle controllers and onboard displays in CoDeSys development software.
- Maintain and update existing Structured Text code for vehicle controls.
- Selection and application of vehicle electrical components such as relays, switches, circuit breakers, proximity sensors, pressure sensors, shifters, lights, telematics.
- Creation and maintenance of electrical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, and bills of materials.
- Creation of test plan, and first power up instructions for the new product developed.
- Close support of first product start up with testing team at the factory, and early production runs of equipment.
- Interact with product engineer, and other disciplines to ensure clean integration of work into the machine.
- Cost Control to Design to Cost (DTC) objectives through proper component selection and
- Other assignments as designated by immediate and/or higher supervisor/s.
- ISO 9001: establish standards, procedures and other documents in accordance with ISO 9001.
- Maintain the currency with respect to technical and supervisory skills by attending training
needed.
Qualifications And Experience
- Automotive or heavy-duty vehicle background with vehicle control system experience.
- Automotive type wiring harness design, and layout experience.
- Documentation such as electrical schematic and wire harness drawings.
- Working knowledge of CODESYS Structured Text or similar programming language.
- Experience with J1939 or CANopen CAN bus a plus.
- Experience with high-voltage safety a plus.
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office to create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations as needed to fulfill role.
- Basic working knowledge of 2D CAD and schematic capture software preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering
