Medical Assistant - OB/GYN at URBAN HEALTH PLAN, INC.

Position Summary

As a Medical Assistant you will work with a team of dedicated OB/GYN Providers, Midwives, Nurses, Sonographers, Nutritionists, and other associates that are dedicated to women's health, prenatal healthcare, and the healthy development of infants. Our OB/GYN Department provides our patients with free pregnancy screening daily. This Medical Assistant position will support the department with coordinating this effort and will also be on standby to support our OB/GYN providers within exam rooms.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Medical Assistant Certificate or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
• 1 year of related experience in the healthcare sector.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
• Flexible work schedule.
• Proficiency with computers and software (previous training on electronic health records is a plus).
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to multitask.

Key Duties

• Prepares examination rooms, stocks inventory, and sterilizes instruments.
• Obtain vital signs, chief complaint, and medical history and accurately records in medical records. Goes the extra mile to put patient at ease and provide information related to procedures.
• Takes EKG and A1C levels.
• Assists providers during all aspects of exams, treatments, and procedures.
• Registers and verifies patient demographics. Supports administrative needs of department as necessary.
• Schedules appointments and recalls patients for required services. Contacts patients with missed appointments.
  
  

Starting Compensation: Minimum: $23.00/hour ; Maximum: $23.00/hour

Work Environment Type, Location, and Schedule:

Candidates must possess availability to work onsite based out of our Bronx Community Health Center, El Nuevo San Juan. Candidates must possess availability to work shifts Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm with 1 rotating Saturday 8am-5pm per month.
