Your Contribution
The Mortgage Loan Processor is responsible for the compilation, verification, and review of mortgage loan applications. The Mortgage Loan Processor works closely with Mortgage Loan Officers to ensure a timely and accurate experience for our members throughout the entire mortgage process that does not involve analysis or decision-making.
As a vital member of the LCCU team, your responsibilities include the following:
- Oversees loan files received from Mortgage Loan Officers (MLOs) through Final Approval.
- Retrieves and reviews initial disclosures from borrowers. Works with MLOs to address inconsistencies and ensure data is accurate.
- Prepares credit and collateral packages for submission to underwriting.
- Orders appraisals and completes a comprehensive review of the appraisal upon receipt.
- Obtains verifications of employment, mortgage, rent, insurance and other items necessary to document the loan application.
- Maintain a filing system and procedures to monitor that the required documentation is received and appropriately and according to policies and procedures.
- Coordinates with MLOs and members to address underwriting conditions and prepare the file for resubmission.
- Orders tax transcripts from the Internal Revenue Service.
- Maintain constant communication with loan officers regarding updates and any missing documentation.
- Orders and reviews pest inspection, appraisal, and flood.
- Orders additional inspection, if necessary, based on the initial inspection requested.
- Generate redisclosures and cover letters when applicable.
- Report invoices and payment of service providers to Accounting.
- Coordinates loan closings with attorneys and LCCU closing staff.
- Help train new loan processors and other processing personnel.
- Assists with other tasks and projects as assigned.

- High School diploma or GED equivalent with 2+ years of recent mortgage lending experience or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Experience with Mortgage LOS system(s) and/or TRID compliance preferred.
- Professional working proficiency in English and Spanish required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
- Maintains a professional demeanor in interactions with colleagues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer software, including email functions.
- Excellent communication skills with internal teams and external vendors including Real Estate Agents.
- Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer.
- This position is on-site located in Durham, North Carolina.
