Director of Operations at The Worksphere

Date: 8 hours ago
City: Corona, CA
Salary: $150,000 - $200,000 per year
Contract type: Full time
About Client:

A leading commercial HVAC company, this team specializes in service, maintenance, retrofits, replacements, and more—delivering amazing service directly to building owners rather than through third parties. Their client base spans well-known brands and facilities, including Chase Bank, PetSmart stores, assisted living communities, refrigerated warehouses, and boutique grocery chains. Grounded in a strong values-driven culture, they prioritize people, quality, and long-term relationships in everything they do.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a visionary Director of Operations to own and drive operational excellence across a growing, multi-state commercial HVAC and service business. This role has full operational accountability—leading day-to-day operations across California and Arizona (including an active Phoenix market launch), owning the P&L, building scalable systems and processes, and developing a high-performance management team. The ideal candidate combines hands-on industry knowledge, strong financial and operational rigor, and an entrepreneurial leadership style to scale multi-location operations while preserving quality, customer focus, and a people-first culture.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive base salary range: $150,000 – $200,000.
  • Performance-based bonus program tied to revenue and profit targets.
  • Comprehensive benefits: medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) plan with company match.
  • Flexible paid time off policy.
  • Meaningful growth opportunity with equity consideration for the right candidate.
  • Entrepreneurial, growth-focused culture with direct access to ownership and strategic decision-making.
  • Autonomy to shape strategy, processes, and organizational structure.
  • Multi-market leadership role with travel and high-impact responsibility.
  • Professional development and leadership growth opportunities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Own day-to-day operations across California and Arizona markets, ensuring consistent service delivery and quality standards.
  • Take full P&L ownership: drive revenue growth, margin improvement, and disciplined cost control.
  • Lead strategic planning and execution initiatives that support short- and long-term growth objectives.
  • Design, implement, and refine scalable operational processes, systems, and SOPs across service lines and locations.
  • Optimize resource allocation (labor, equipment, materials) across multiple markets to maximize utilization and profitability.
  • Lead pricing strategy, estimating processes, procurement optimization, and contract oversight.
  • Build, coach, and develop the management team (office, field, supervisors) and establish clear accountability and performance metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, safety, customer satisfaction, and on-time delivery.
  • Lead market development and expansion efforts (including Phoenix), establishing frameworks for repeatable, scalable launches.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships, vendor relationships, and operational alliances that create competitive advantage.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in commercial HVAC, mechanical contracting, or related construction/service businesses.
  • Proven track record scaling multi-location service organizations and leading operational transformations.
  • Demonstrated P&L ownership and strong financial management skills (forecasting, budgeting, margin improvement).
  • Deep understanding of commercial HVAC operations, estimating, project management, and field service workflows.
  • Experience building and leading high-performance teams with a focus on developing middle management.
  • Strong process-optimization background and experience implementing systems and SOPs that scale.
  • Success launching or rapidly scaling new geographic markets preferred (experience in California and/or Arizona is a plus).
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and vendor/partner development skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent progressive experience will be considered.
  • Relevant industry certifications or licenses and an established network of industry relationships are a plus.

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
