The Accountant plays a key role in supporting the financial operations of Casa Fresca Homes. This position is responsible for preparing accurate financial data, maintaining job cost integrity, and supporting month-end close processes. The role works closely with Construction, Purchasing, Sales, and Leadership teams to ensure financial accuracy across all communities and projects.

This position is responsible for preparing accurate financial data, maintaining job cost integrity, and supporting month-end close processes. The role works closely with Construction, Purchasing, Sales, and Leadership teams to ensure financial accuracy across all communities and projects.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, lot cost adjustments, and amortizations.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts such as cash, inventory, prepaid expenses, deposits, and construction-in-progress (CIP).
- Assist with month-end close timelines, supporting accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Track and reconcile all direct construction costs at the lot, community, and phase level.
- Review variance reports and research discrepancies in job budgets vs. actuals.
- Verify accuracy of subcontractor invoices, purchase orders (POs), and work orders.
- Reconcile construction draws and borrower/trust accounts; coordinate with lenders on draw requests.
- Monitor inventory of homes under construction, completed inventory, model homes, and land development assets.
- Support AP by reviewing coding for construction invoices, ensuring correct cost allocation.
- Work with Purchasing and Construction teams to resolve invoice or PO discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate vendor records and assist with annual 1099 preparation.
- Assist with preparing monthly community financial statements and job cost reports.
- Perform variance analysis for construction costs, margins, overhead, and revenue.
- Support budgeting and forecasting for communities, lots, and vertical construction.
- Prepare schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
- Ensure adherence to company accounting policies, job cost standards, and internal controls.
- Maintain organized financial records for easy retrieval during audits or lender reviews.
- Assist with insurance certificates, licensing documents, draw compliance, and other required reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- 1–3 years of accounting experience; homebuilding, construction, or real estate development experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and job cost accounting.
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., JD Edwards, Sage 300 CRE, BuildPro, NewStar, or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills (vlookups, pivot tables, reconciliations).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in complex job cost structures.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Construction, Purchasing, Sales, and Land teams.
- Effective problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet close deadlines.
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and teamwork.
- This is an on-site position based in the Tampa Bay area and will require relocation if you are not currently located in the area. While the role is primarily in-person, there may be limited access to remote work at the discretion of management and based on business needs.
- This is a non-exempt role, and any overtime worked requires prior approval from management. Failure to obtain management approval for overtime may result in corrective action in accordance with company policy.
