Position Summary

The Network Administrator Intern is a part-time, year-round position that will assist in the minor day-to-day administration; support and ongoing enhancement of Menard, Inc’s network (LAN, WAN, Wireless) infrastructures. This position requires working in a secure, mission-critical environment, assisting Network Administrators and Team Leads with installation, configuration, and testing of multi-vendor network equipment. During summer months this job may require traveling to remote offices to assist in post network maintenance.

The position requires 15-20 hours per week between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Primary Responsibilities

• Support:
• Maintain a basic working knowledge of Menards’ corporate network.
• Provide low-level network administration services.
• Monitoring the health of the overall network, reporting problems and incidents as necessary.
• Participate in the configuration and installation of Network Architecture.
• Assist in first line of support for network infrastructure.
• Troubleshooting configuration issues involving software conflicts, hardware problems, network protocols (TCP/IP).
• Assisting staff with the proper operation of the system.
• Working with external vendors and support providers as required.
• Assisting in new device certification process
• Meet with business teams and technical support staff to evaluate and assess user satisfaction
• Ensure Service Level Agreements are met
• Thoroughly test all changes prior to implementation
• Provide technical support to Menards' IS staff
  
  

Skills/Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Attending school for an Associate or Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Networking or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in networking or computers.
• Excellent performance interpersonal skills; customer service skills; organizational skills; and verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent analytical skills for problem determination and resolution.
• Ability to remain calm and courteous in demanding situations
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work independently, as well as, cooperate with others.
• Preferred Knowledge:
• Cisco equipment and Cisco IOS
• TCP/IP Protocols
• Fast / Gigabit Ethernet network implementation
• Router configuration, support and problem analysis
• Switch configuration, support and problem analysis
• Wireless configuration, support and problem analysis
• Modems, Terminal Servers, Dialup Servers,
• Security Authentication for Radius and TACACS
• Protocol problem analysis desirable
• HTML, Python, Linux Red Hat or SUSE, Windows 7/10, Android
• May be required to work overtime including weekends.
• Must be able to work in Eau Claire, WI for the duration of the internship
• Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
