Summary

The Supply Chain Specialist III is an advanced-level role responsible for executing and optimizing end-to-end supply chain activities, including procurement, inventory management, material planning, logistics coordination, and supplier performance. This position serves as a subject-matter expert, provides guidance to junior team members, and supports strategic initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and cost control across the supply chain. The Specialist III works cross-functionally with production, engineering, quality, and project teams

Responsibilities

  • Source and procure materials, equipment, and services to meet production and project requirements.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms with suppliers to ensure best value.
  • Manage complex purchase orders and long-lead items, ensuring alignment with production schedules and forecasts.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities and participate in vendor selection, qualification, and performance reviews.
  • Develop and maintain material planning parameters within MRP/ERP systems.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure availability while minimizing excess or obsolete stock.
  • Review demand forecasts and adjust procurement strategies accordingly.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to resolve material shortages, delays, or quality issues.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, optimizing freight, carrier performance, and delivery schedules.
  • Work with suppliers and logistics partners to resolve transportation issues or exceptions.
  • Ensure compliance with import/export regulations, packaging requirements, and documentation standards.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives related to supply chain processes, systems, or workflows.
  • Analyze supply chain data to identify cost-saving opportunities, lead-time reductions, and efficiency gains.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and operations teams on material specifications, supplier issues, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate purchase order records, supplier information, and inventory data within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Prepare reports on supplier performance, cost trends, inventory metrics, and procurement spend.
  • Support audits, compliance reviews, and documentation requirements.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 4 - 5 years of progressive experience in supply chain, procurement, or materials management in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Infor, etc.) required.
  • Experience managing complex supply chain activities, long-lead equipment, or project-based materials.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • High proficiency with data analysis, Excel, and supply chain reporting.
  • Excellent communication and supplier relationship management abilities.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, material requirements, and logistics.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and material data (preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor or guide less experienced team members.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to reach, stand, walk, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see and to perform repetitive motion.
  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
