Engineering Intern – Medical Device Innovation
Ready to get hands-on experience that actually matters? Join Nuwellis as an Engineering Intern and help shape the future of Aquapheresis therapy. This is your chance to work on real medical devices—current and next-generation electro-mechanical systems, disposable blood circuits, and catheters—while learning from engineers who love what they do.
You won’t be fetching coffee. You’ll be contributing to product development, testing, validation work, and technical documentation that directly supports patient-impacting technology.
Flexible Internship Options
We offer part-time internships during the school year that work around your class schedule, plus full-time opportunities over the summer for students who want deeper project involvement.

What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with engineers on development and sustainment projects
- Perform characterization and verification testing on medical devices
- Analyze design and test data (electrical, flow, error, statistical)
- Support sustaining engineering teams and create technical documentation
- Draft and update requirements, validation protocols, reports, and procedures
- Work with internal teams and external vendors on qualification and validation
- Assist in developing and improving test methods and equipment
- Ensure work meets quality and regulatory requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Current Sophomore, Junior, or Senior pursuing Electrical, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering
Preferred Skills
- Strong communication and teamwork
- Reliable, self-directed, and detail-oriented
- Comfortable with peer review and formal engineering processes
- Hands-on mindset and eagerness to learn
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
