Our Intelligent Sensor Group (ISG) is seeking a dynamic Principal Product Engineer to join our Nampa Product Engineering team. In this position, you will have the opportunity to drive New Product Development (NPD) by taking CMOS image sensors from design tape-out to mass production for the consumer market.

Responsibilities

You will work closely with a cross functional team including technology development, design, quality assurance, pixel characterization, test, applications and marketing to ensure timely, high quality delivery of production ready sensors. You will be responsible for researching product technical requirements, validating performance characteristics, and developing efficient and effective validation tests to ensure ON’s high quality commitment while improving yield. You will lead the cross functional team through reviews of validation and debug results, and your excellent debug skills, communication skills, and initiative will be essential to success in this role.

  • Define product validation requirements by working with cross functional teams to translate concepts into tests.
  • Validate design features, debug initial silicon, determine root cause and drive corrective action for problems discovered.
  • Drive MP readiness with multiple engineering and operation teams.
  • Participate in yield analysis, drive necessary improvement actions for silicon process, settings optimization, and testing robustness in order to improve product yield and quality.
  • Collaborate with application engineers & customers to enable successful system design.
  • Work with reliability engineers to achieve successful product qualification.
  • Failure analysis support for customer returns and root cause analysis

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Semiconductor Engineering related field; Master’s or Ph. D degree preferred.
  • 5+ years semiconductor industry experience with hands on electrical lab equipment experience.
  • Strong knowledge of test development, statistical analysis, and product validation methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of VB, python, or other programming languages.
  • Ability to drive solutions across multiple cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for relaying technical information at various levels through the organization.
  • Understanding of CMOS imager sensor architecture and operation is preferred.
  • Relevant experience in introducing products into manufacturing or high volume production a plus.
