VP of Transportation at Novatae Risk Group

The Vice President of Transportation at Novatae Risk Group is a leadership role responsible for rebuilding and leading the Transportation vertical within our Wholesale Insurance division. This position is tasked with revitalizing the Transportation book of business, developing strong carrier and retail relationships, recruiting and mentoring a high-performing team, and executing profitable growth strategies aligned with Novatae's national objectives.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

• Lead the transformation and growth of the Transportation practice across all wholesale markets.
• Develop and implement a go-forward strategy to reposition Novatae as a key player in the wholesale Transportation space.
• Partner with executive leadership to align transportation growth strategies with broader business goals.
  
  

Book Rebuilding and Development:

• Analyze existing books of business and identify opportunities for new and profitable growth.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track production, retention, and profitability.
• Design and execute marketing campaigns and outreach efforts to win new business.
  
  

Market and Carrier Relations:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key carriers and program partners to expand market access and improve placement options.
• Negotiate terms and build exclusive offerings for Novatae’s Transportation clients.
  
  

Retail Broker Engagement:

• Act as a consultative partner to retail brokers, offering guidance, market insights, and placement support.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for high-value retail accounts.
  
  

Team Building and Mentorship:

• Recruit, train, and develop a team of Transportation underwriters and brokers.
• Instill a culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation within the team.
• Provide ongoing coaching and professional development opportunities to direct reports.
  
  

Operational Oversight:

• Establish operational best practices to support underwriting efficiency and accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
• Work cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, Finance, and HR as needed.
  
  

Position Specific Skills/Qualifications

Work Experience:

• 10+ years of experience in the transportation insurance industry, with a strong wholesale background.
• Proven leadership experience in building or scaling an underwriting team or transportation-focused book.
• Strong market relationships with both carriers and retail producers.
  
  

Professional Licenses/Certificates:

• Active P&C License required or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• CPCU, ARM, or related insurance designations preferred.
  
  

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, or related field. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
