Position Overview
The School of Social Work in the College of Health Sciences at Boise State University invites applications for a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor. The School is committed to preparing students for careers that strengthen and support their communities. Our graduates are ready to assist vulnerable populations, collaborate with partner agencies, and contribute to improved well-being across Idaho and beyond. With growing enrollments and the largest graduate program on campus, we are excited to welcome new colleagues who are dedicated to high-quality teaching and student success.
This full-time, 12-month position has a primary focus on teaching (80%), with a typical load of four courses in the fall and spring semesters and one to two courses in the summer. Most instruction occurs in the MSW Online program. Depending on the candidate’s location and program needs, opportunities may be available to teach in the on-campus MSW or BSW programs in Boise.
The Clinical Assistant Professor provides professional advising for MSW Online students as part of their service responsibilities (10%). Service also includes participation on School committees such as faculty, curriculum, admissions, accreditation, and student development (10%). The successful candidate will demonstrate effective, innovative teaching practices and contribute to ongoing curriculum development.
Clinical faculty are licensed professionals whose primary responsibilities include teaching in academic and applied settings, supervising clinical experiences, and engaging in professionally related community service. Participation in research or scholarship is welcome but not required for this role. Clinical faculty serve on program-related committees, are eligible for promotion, and are not in a tenure-track line.
Candidates with a record of, or strong potential for effective university teaching and meaningful service at the department, college, university, or community levels will be considered. Because this position supports the MSW Online program, hybrid or fully remote work options may be discussed.
