Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, supervision, and oversight to the packaging team, including but not limited to employee evaluations, coaching, training and development, and hiring
  • Ensure packaging goals of capacity, cost, yield, safety, and quality are achieved
  • Maintains a floor presence during the packaging runs while facilitating all packaging activities
  • Represents packaging in the daily morning update meeting
  • Attends weekly scheduling meeting to optimize packaging schedule to meet demand
  • Coordinates with supply chain production planner to ensure correct components are available to meet demand plan
  • Coordinates the packaging schedule with production and QC to ensure product availability
  • Supports and works with Quality Assurance to investigate customer complaints Ensures all packaging operations are completed in compliance with validated operating parameters
  • Assists in qualifications and validations of equipment within the packaging area
  • Provides cost saving ideas to reduce department budget
  • Hires and trains necessary manpower for packaging the customer order volume
  • Operates according to cGMP and support Quality in all regulatory audits
  • Investigates and trouble-shoots packaging and quality issues through RCA
  • Initiates and completes investigation reports when required
  • Partners with manager, technicians, and maintenance personnel to identify and resolve issues and corrective actions to ensure minimum costs and operational delays
  • Ensures accurate component inventory controls through proper warehouse procedures and practices

Education/Experience

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2+ years’ supervisory experience preferably in a pharmaceutical packaging environment or equivalent
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of packaging equipment
  • Good troubleshooting skills and sound mechanical aptitude
  • Strong knowledge of cGMPs with regard to drug product packaging
  • Experience writing SOPs, work instructions and job aids
