    Essential Job Functions

    This is a secretarial and administrative position providing support to the Associate Judges of the District Court for Baltimore City.Duties are to screen and route messages to the appropriate party or department, use proper expense reports or invoices, and update the court's various databases.Process search and seizure warrants and VOP's and forward timely.Responsible for typing reports, decisions opinions, motions, orders, memos, and drafting letters and miscellaneous documents.Assists with special projects and perform other duties as assigned by a Supervisor, Judge or Administrative Official.

    Essential Duties And Responsibilities

    Manage, update, organize court records, databases, files, forms, prepare and distribute various documents, reports timely; manage work assigned to judges including scheduling bails, bails modifications and other related matters.

    Organize and maintain filing systems, prepare letters, judges notes, memoranda, tables, reports, forms, opinions, orders.

    Sort, route mail, distribute violation of probation requests and other correspondences; manage incoming calls, schedule meetings, screen visitors coordinate access between judges, the public, treatment providers, justice partner agencies, etc.Manage inquiries from law enforcement agencies, manage, track e-warrant requests, emergency petition requests.

    Provides back-up support for administrative assistant to the Administrative Clerk, the interpreter coordinator, and the executive aide to the Administrative Judge.

    Assists with various problem-solving court activities; monitor and remind judges of work in the MDEC ques.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:High school diploma (or GED equivalent).

    Experience:Two (2) years of work experience providing secretarial, clerical, or administrative work involving the use of a personal computer and word processing software.

    Preferred:Previous court experience is preferred.

    Knowledge Of

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Basic English and arithmetic to includes, but not limited to spelling, punction, subtraction, multiplication, division.

    General office practices, procedures and proficient use of office equipment.

    Office equipment including, but not limited to computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines, etc.

    Judicial policies, procedures and forms

    Proficient in using Microsoft package.

    Manage priorities to meet critical deadlines while multitasking

    Typing on personal computer

    Accuracy and attention to detail

    Customer service and handing problems tactfully and patiently

    Reading, comprehension, proofreading and editing

    Interpret, apply, and follow a variety of written or verbal instructions

    Communicate clearly, tactfully, and effectively with judges, the public police agencies, attorneys, and other court officials and personnel, both verbally and in writing.

    Use standard office and business equipment including but not limited to personal computers, word processing, spreadsheets, database software, copier, register scanner, fax machine, etc.

    Understand and abide by judicial rules, regulations, and procedures.

    Accurately prepare and process a variety of reports, records and documents.

    Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, superiors, and /or the general public.

    Maintain confidentiality.

    Type 45-50 words per minute accurately.

    Physical Requirements

    Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
