Job Summary
Provides coordinated occupational therapy to patients of all age groups under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist. Participates in the coordination of care.
Reports to: Director of Therapy
Job Qualifications
Education:Graduate of an accredited program of occupational therapist assistant with an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy.
Licensure:Active, state license as an occupational therapist assistant, or if licensure does not apply, meets the requirements listed in 42 CFR
Skills:Therapy skills as set forth in the Therapy Practice Act and other regulatory agencies. Good interpersonal skills.
Proof of current CPR certification.
Transportation: Reliable transportation and valid auto liability insurance.
Environmental And Working Conditions
Works in a healthcare facility or patients’ homes in various conditions; possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases; ability to work a flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather.
Physical And Mental Effort
Ability to do heavy lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, and standing. Prolonged standing and walking required. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs, and to meet patient and family individualized psychosocial needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Essential Functions
Provides services that are ordered by the physician as indicated in the plan of care, as developed, delegated, and supervised by the Occupational Therapist (OT). Completes appropriate documentation in a timely manner.
Facilitates patients’ ROM, strength, coordination, use of adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, functional mobility, and safety issues as related to patients’ ADL performance under the supervision of the OT.
Applies concepts of infection control and standard precautions in coordinating and performing patient care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease.
Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients.
Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills to provide patient and caregiver education.
Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third-party payors, through education, coaching, and other assistance, as necessary.
Demonstrates commitment, professional growth, and competency.
Participates in the Agency’s QAPI program.
Meets mandatory continuing education requirements; participates in the Agency sponsored in-service trainings.
Performs other duties as assigned.
