This is a season long internship and is expected to start in February and conclude at the end of the 2026 MLS season.
Position Overview
The Business Intelligence Engineer Intern will gain hands-on experience across the Business Intelligence team, with a primary focus on the engineering foundations that support data-driven decision-making. The intern will assist in integrating third-party vendor data into our data warehouse, help build and maintain data workflows, and contribute to ad-hoc software engineering projects as needed.
While the role will emphasize data engineering and backend development, there will be opportunities to explore data analysis, reporting, and visualization. The intern will work across multiple areas of Business Intelligence—from ticket operations to analytics—and gain experience with technologies and concepts including but not limited to Azure SQL Database, Archtics (Ticketmaster), Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ETL Pipelines, and data visualization tools.
This is a season-long internship, running for the duration of the New York City FC’s 2026 season.

What You’ll Do
- Assist the Lead Data Engineer with integrating third-party platforms/data sources within NYCFC’s data warehouse.
- Support research and experimentation around incorporating AI/ML into existing and new data workflows.
- Help build and maintain ETL Pipelines and supporting processes.
- Create data visualizations (via Tableau) to convey insights to internal stakeholders.
- Assist in developing presentations for internal and external meetings.
- Support ad-hoc software engineering requests as needed.
- Working knowledge of SQL.
- Foundational understanding of data structures and object-oriented programming concepts.
- Knowledge of Ticketmaster Archtics is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with Python and Pandas (Python library) is a plus.
- Familiarity with Tableau or other data visualization tools is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively, both in a team setting and cross-departmentally.
- Ability to prioritize assignments based on timelines and business objectives.
