Nature and Scope
The Paralegal position reports directly to the Chief Legal Officer and supports the legal affairs of the credit union and its subsidiaries. This includes general corporate law, governance, contracts, vendor management, regulatory compliance, and litigation management. Nature and Scope
The Paralegal position reports directly to the Chief Legal Officer and supports the legal affairs of the credit union and its subsidiaries. This includes general corporate law, governance, contracts, vendor management, regulatory compliance, and litigation management. The Paralegal acts as a legal support professional and business partner, assisting the Chief Legal Officer and legal counsel in achieving strategic objectives..
Specific Accountabilities
- Independently review and validate trusts, powers of attorney, deeds, and divorce documents for completeness and compliance with credit union requirements, escalating legal interpretation issues to the Chief Legal Officer as appropriate.
- Assist with the review and drafting of all contracts and other legal documentation.
- Manage third-party vendor files and compliance using Nvendor software (training provided if needed). Exercise significant autonomy in identifying and resolving vendor-related compliance issues.
- Maintain accurate records of correspondence and legal documents, including contracts.
- Prepare legal documents and assist with policy drafting and implementation as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of all policies.
- Serve as a resource for internal staff across departments and, on occasion, coordinate with outside counsel on specific matters.
- Stay current on legislative and regulatory changes affecting the credit union and its subsidiaries. Provide regular summaries or reports as requested.
- Support compliance with NCUA regulations, and applicable federal laws (e.g., GLBA, privacy, vendor due diligence expectations).
- Assist with examination support, including document collection and regulatory requests.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

- Familiarity with artificial intelligence (AI) tools and their practical applications in legal research, document review, or workflow automation is preferred.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in an in-house corporate law department and/or law firm, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- North Carolina paralegal certification preferred.
- Experience in real estate and estate planning preferred.
- Experience with contract management platforms (preferred, not required; training provided).
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
