The PMO Project Manager is a member of the Natural Grocers Project Management Office (PMO) team and is responsible for driving the overall successful execution of company projects they are assigned to manage.
Responsibilities
Main Ingredients:
Project Coordination
- Assist the Director of PMO in providing coaching and guidance to area-functional project managers
- Support Director of PMO with portfolio management
- Generate companywide capital project budget
- Develop plans for project budgets, communication, and resource management
- Control tracking of all capitalizable expenses and operational expenses
- As directed , m anage co-located cross-functional teams responsible for delivering projects on time, within budget, and with expected quality results. Plan, organize, monitor, and oversee multiple projects to meet defined requirements for the business
- Prepare project plan / timeline using appropriate tools
- Partner with Department PM in enterprise level projects and related issues
- Assist with the Director of Project Management to steer projects to achieve intended business results
- Follow NG enterprise project management standards including
- Guiding champion on creation of a Project Business Case one pager including success criteria
- Guide the area PM in the proper methodology of project management
- Assist in getting projects into START gate review to drive alignment and resource commitment
- Manage and communicate project’s objectives and help organize the work into manageable areas or phases for give an organized and effective approach to achieving the project goals.
- When needed, advocate for responsible solutions to project problems that are part of departmental or other more peripheral areas.
- Assist with resources or individually (in lieu of resources) as an initial estimator to compile and complete project budget estimate.
- Assist in representing projects at meetings including START gate, departmental and Executive level to help assure that priorities are communicated and understood, and that progress/delays/issues are reported properly.
- Assist in project site creation and management of all project documentation from Concept/Initiation to Implementation and Close out
- Proactively identify changes in project work scope to guarantee appropriate planning measures are taken to amend the scope of work requirement, budget, and timeline.
- Gain alignment for project approvals, go/no go moments to assure complete corporate alignment
- Work with team members to analyze risks, establish contingency plans and mitigations.
- Manage relationships with project stakeholders and team and keep stakeholders informed of project status and progress (internal and external)
- Negotiate consensus within those teams to drive decisions and resolve issues
- Build relationship of trust with project champions and sponsors
- Demonstratable skills of working to arbitrate and resolve conflict and interface problems within project.
- Use negotiating skills when faced with political sensitive issues or conflicting interests to drive to a conclusion for the best interest of the project and NG.
- Plan and facilitate meetings with proper agendas, follow up and documentation
- Escalate issues appropriately through START or approved channels to manage expectations on project requirements and deliverables
Qualifications
Recipe for Success:
- PMP certification preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of project management experience
- Excellent leadership skills required
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to build trust, confidence and respect with clients and stakeholders, while working in a professional environment
- Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines while maintaining strong customer service
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Must have excellent time management skills
- Proactive self-starter working with minimal supervision, thinks outside the box; solution oriented
- Ability to effectively coordinate teams of subject matter experts/stakeholders and willingness to proactively intervene, as needed, to ensure program deliverables are completed

- Must have the ability to constantly lift or carry up to 10 lbs., frequently lift or carry 11-20 lbs., and occasionally lift or carry 21-50 lbs. Must also have the ability to occasionally lift or carry 51-100 lbs. with a team lift.
- Must have the ability to frequently push or pull up to 15 lbs. and occasionally push or pull 16-100 lbs.
- Must be able to occasionally use the computer for data entry and use of mouse.
