Why Ampirical?

Hourly Range: $29.50/hour - $45/hour. Actual compensation will vary based on experience, education, and qualifications, as well as the specific office location. This range reflects all California locations and Document Controls Specialist 1 and 2.

PMO Department Overview

The Engineering PMO Department provides the structure and oversight that support Ampirical’s engineering teams in delivering high-quality power delivery projects. The department manages scope, schedule, budget, and risk while ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, and industry standards. Serving as a central hub for coordination, communication, and project controls, the PMO drives consistency, accountability, and smooth execution across all engineering projects.

Your Role: Document Controls Specialist I or 2

Ampirical is seeking a Document Controls Specialist to support our electrical engineering project teams delivering power delivery solutions nationwide. This role is a key part of our PMO, partnering closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Project Services to ensure organized, accurate, and compliant documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

What You’ll Do

  • Execute document control processes independently while ensuring compliance with internal and client standards.
  • Perform quality checks on all documentation and maintain well-structured project folder systems.
  • Manage file uploads, metadata, version control, and permissions across SharePoint, FTP sites, and related systems.
  • Update project distribution lists, communication plans, and transmittals; follow up on outstanding approvals and deliverables.
  • Support project meetings, maintain accurate logs, and ensure communication flow across teams and clients.
  • Train team members on best practices for document management and proper storage processes.
  • Assist with template updates, process improvements, and implementation of new PMO procedures.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of document controls, or related experience in an engineering environment
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree required (or equivalent amount of industry experience)
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work with minimal oversight
  • Proficiency with SharePoint, Acrobat/Bluebeam, MS Office, and metadata management
  • Strong technical writing/editing skills and professionalism
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced engineering environment
