This project is designed to provide the intern with hands-on experience in occupational exposure assessment, data analysis, and the application of OSHA 29 CFR 1910, ACGIH TLVs, and NIOSH RELs.
Work is generally performed within a manufacturing environment subjected to temperatures of cold and warm along with wearing the proper PPE, with standard office equipment available along with plant manufacturing environment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, walk, use hands or finger, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, or controls; may be required to lift up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close vision to a computer screen.

- Hazard Identification
- Conduct walkthrough assessments with EHS/IH staff to identify potential hazards (chemical, physical, biological, ergonomic).
- Review Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and existing exposure monitoring records.
- Data Collection & Analysis
- Assist in the collection of exposure data (air sampling, noise dosimetry, etc.) as available.
- Compile and organize historical monitoring data.
- Compare exposure levels against OSHA PELs, NIOSH RELs, and ACGIH TLVs.
- Hazard Mapping
- Develop a facility hazard map using floor plans and GIS/mapping software or other visualization tools.
- Overlay hazard locations with quantifiable exposure data (e.g., ppm, dBA, mg/m³).
- Use color coding to indicate hazard severity and exposure levels relative to standards.
- Reporting & Communication
- Present findings to EHS leadership, highlighting areas of concern and recommending controls.
- Prepare documentation of methodology, assumptions, and data sources used.
- Create a final presentation summarizing the hazard map and analysis.
