The research industry is massive (>$140B and growing) and ripe for disruption. Incumbents are outdated, slow, and burdened by high-cost services. That's our opportunity.

Outset is backed by top Silicon Valley investors and raised a $30M Series B in December 2025—less than six months after our Series A—led by Radical Ventures with participation from M12 (Microsoft’s venture arm), 8VC, Y Combinator, and Adverb Ventures.

The raise follows a breakout year, with our business growing 8x as enterprise customers across industries adopt our category, AI‑moderated research, as the new standard for understanding people.

The Role

We’re looking for Outset’s Founding Full-Stack Designer — someone who blends exceptional design craft with sharp product instincts. This is not a pixel-pushing role. It’s a chance to define an entirely new category, shaping how the world understands and builds for humans.

As Our Founding Designer, You Will

• Own the end-to-end design process, from UX flows to polished UI, delivering experiences that delight customers.
• Partner directly with Outset’s founders to shape product direction and design strategy from the ground up.
• Work incredibly closely with design and research leaders at some of the world’s biggest brands , building products that directly impact how they innovate.
• Translate customer needs into elegant, impactful product solutions with speed and precision.
• Move fast — balancing high-quality craft with rapid iteration.
• Champion the customer perspective in internal decision-making, helping the team prioritize what matters most.
• Establish design systems, patterns, and processes to scale as we grow.
  
  

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of product design experience , ideally at startups or scrappy teams where you wore many hats and often did what might traditionally be considered product work.
• Proven mastery in UI/UX design , with a portfolio that demonstrates taste, craft, and execution speed.
• Strong product sense — you instinctively know how design decisions shape outcomes and customer impact.
• Exceptional communication skills , with the ability to concisely explain tradeoffs and decisions.
• An executional spirit — you want to make the design a reality fast, no matter what it takes.
• Bonus: Experience with user research, analytics, or AI-driven products.
