The role
The School of Anatomy are seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, and hardworking technician to provide practical support to the veterinary and human dissection suites and the Vesalius Clinical Training Centre. The role holder will work as part of a team of technicians ensuring the smooth running of the dissection suites, additional teaching/study spaces and anatomical museums. Working in a busy demanding environment the role holder will ensure practical classes are set up, whilst maintaining compliance with health & safety/Human Tissue Authority legislation.
What will you be doing?
Working as part of a team of teaching technicians the role will significantly contribute to the running of the veterinary and human dissection suites and the Vesalius Clinical Training Unit. The role holder will be heavily involved in the preparation, setup and clear down of the teaching spaces. You will be working with senior technicians to manage resource demands whilst working to tight schedules in a busy dynamic environment. Alongside the setup and clear down of the practical teaching spaces, the role holder will be involved in daily housekeeping duties in the dissection suites and the maintenance of teaching provisions, specialist equipment & storage facilities.
You should apply if
Experience of working within a similar environment or equivalent practical skills learnt in a different environment. You will have an enthusiasm for science, and a desire to provide high quality technical support for teaching.
You must be able to prioritise own workload within clearly defined limits, completing tasks in a timely manner, working to tight timeframes to ensure commitments to teaching are met.
A full UK driving licence is required, as you will be expected to drive the departmental van to collect items from external partners.
You will have excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize a range of ongoing tasks at the same time be able to manage the demands of multiple teaching spaces.
You can effectively communicate with a wide variety of contacts, including students, academic staff, and external suppliers.
You will have experience of working well within a team but must be able to work with limited supervision towards pre-defined goals. You can complete tasks to a high level of accuracy, with attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
