Under the supervision of the Director of Adult Education, the employee provides administrative support to the entire department to include instructors, students, and staff. Â The employee performs clerical duties and assists in the daily operations of the department.
POSTING DATE: DECEMBER 29, 2025
SALARY: Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule E5 05 (range: $34,298 - $51,793). This position involves performance duties for a federally funded project and is contingent on continued federal funding. Â In the event that funds for this position are discontinued or significantly reduced or if federal requirements for funding this project no longer include this position, the College shall have the right to discontinue the position. Â Neither tenure or non-probationary status may be attained in this position.Â
The position will be based initially at the Wallace Campus in Dothan.
More than one position in the same job classification may be filled from the applicants for this position should another vacancy occur during the search process.   Â
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: General Clerical Duties. Employee performs clerical duties to assist the Adult Education office in its efficient operation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: General Clerical Duties. Employee performs clerical duties to assist the Adult Education office in its efficient operation.
- Answers telephone; answers general inquiries and/or routes to the appropriate office or individual.
- Takes and relays phone messages for staff and instructors.
- Greets walk-ins and visitors, assesses needs and provides relevant information about Adult Education classes, ESL classes, orientation and other AE services.
- Types memos, letters, emails, and other correspondence as required.
- Establishes and maintains filing system.
- Checks departmental monthly time sheets for discrepancies or errors.
- Prepares requisitions for purchase orders for supplies, books, and other materials as needed.
- Sends maintenance and MIS requests as needed.
- Provides administrative support during hiring process.
- Provides notary services for the department.
- Arranges Director's travel and maintains his/her schedule.
- Processes travel requisitions and reimbursements for the department.
- Stocks and organizes Adult Education supply closets.
- Works with instructors and staff to issue needed supplies.
- Maintains and distributes yearly Adult Education Calendar and class schedule.
- Performs a purge of non-essential files and maintains file system for Director.
- Compiles information for and creates the Adult Education newsletter for distribution four times a year.
- Maintains information related to graduates of the program and prepares graduation program for printing.
- Reserves space, coordinates with videographer and photographer, and arranges for ROTC participation for graduation ceremonies.
- Participates in graduation ceremony.
- Assists in student recruiting; assists in fostering community support; assists in scheduling activities for Adult Education.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Reports to work on time, at appropriate workstation or department during all departmental/position scheduled work days and during all departmental/position scheduled work hours.
- Understands that failure to report for work and/or reporting late without prior approval are unacceptable practices and will result in disciplinary action.
- Performs a productive full day's work.
- Ensures that service to students and the general public is top priority.
- Demonstrates a considerate, friendly, respectful and constructive attitude toward fellow employees and students.
- Adheres to all College and System policies and procedures.
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- Ability to work non-standard hours and extended hours as necessary is required.
- Ability to possess and maintain Notary Public credentials is required.
