Position Summary
The Director of Onboarding is responsible for the successful launch of new manufacturers, distributors, and programs onto the platform. This role owns end-to-end onboarding execution—from kickoff through go-live—ensuring operational readiness, commercial alignment, data accuracy, and cross-functional coordination. The Director serves as the primary orchestrator across internal teams and external partners, driving predictable launches with minimal post-go-live issues while continuously improving onboarding processes.

This role owns end-to-end onboarding execution—from kickoff through go-live—ensuring operational readiness, commercial alignment, data accuracy, and cross-functional coordination. The Director serves as the primary orchestrator across internal teams and external partners, driving predictable launches with minimal post-go-live issues while continuously improving onboarding processes.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
Supplier & Distributor Launch Readiness
- Owns the full onboarding lifecycle for new manufacturers, distributors, and programs, from kickoff through go-live
- Develops clear launch plans with defined scope, milestones, owners, and timelines
- Ensures launches occur on schedule with controlled scope and minimal disruption
- Coordinates across internal teams including IT, Pricing, Contracts, Customer Service, Operations, Finance, Sales, and Warehousing
- Leads structured meetings with clear agendas, documented decisions, and tracked action items
- Proactively identifies and escalates blockers to maintain momentum
- Ensures accuracy and readiness of item master data, pricing, contract mappings, customer ship-to records, routing guides, and system configurations
- Oversees EDI, API, or file-based integrations, including testing and sign-off prior to launch
- Drives rapid resolution of any post-launch data or integration issues
- Clarifies and validates commercial terms including fees, freight, returns, payment terms, and service-level expectations
- Ensures contracts and SLAs are operationally executable and aligned with platform capabilities
- Confirms all parties understand financial flows and operational responsibilities
- Serves as a primary point of contact for manufacturer and distributor onboarding stakeholders
- Provides proactive status updates, sets expectations, and maintains strong professional relationships
- Manages complex or difficult conversations with clarity, confidence, and diplomacy
- Anticipates risks such as pricing discrepancies, service gaps, inventory exposure, or integration failures
- Develops mitigation plans and drives timely resolution when issues arise
- Ensures accountability and follow-through across all parties
- Ensures internal teams (Customer Service, Warehouse, AR/AP, Sales, Operations) are prepared to support new programs
- Confirms external partners understand order flow, returns, backorders, special orders, and reporting
- Delivers or coordinates training sessions, reference materials, and documentation
- Enforces use of a standard onboarding playbook and launch checklists
- Ensures all required documentation is completed, approved, and stored (SOPs, routing guides, contact lists, testing sign-offs)
- Captures key decisions and maintains a clear audit trail
- Conducts post-launch reviews with internal and external stakeholders
- Gathers feedback on onboarding effectiveness and partner experience
- Recommends and implements improvements to onboarding methodology, tools, and templates
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or related field required.
- 5-8+ years of experience in onboarding, implementation, operations, supply chain, or enterprise sales management
- Proven success leading complex, cross-functional launches involving manufacturers, distributors, or enterprise partners
- Strong understanding of supply chain operations, order-to-cash processes, and commercial terms
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems, item master data, pricing structures, and EDI/integration workflows
- Exceptional communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to balance strategic oversight with detailed execution
