Job Duties and Responsibilities: The job duties and responsibilities of our Emergency Dispatcher Position include the following: Answering calls for service (911 emergencies and non-emergency assistance) and radio dispatching law enforcement, fire services, and emergency medical services agencies primarily on NMSU campus; coordination of emergency resources/services during regional critical incidents; sensitive data entry for the regional Computer Aided Dispatch System (CAD), the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), and various other databases; monitoring of campus wide video cameras; monitoring of various campus wide alarm systems (security/intrusion, fire, and panic/duress alarms); responsible for our emergency notification system messaging (CLERY Compliance); coordinates messages for department personnel from community members; and is the primary receptionist/face of the department for community members walking into the lobby area of the department with questions/needing any public safety assistance.

Emergency Dispatcher/Communications Certificate/academy within one year.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

Physical Effort: Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.

Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking.

Risk: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
