Position Summary

The Director of Operations is responsible for providing strategic operational leadership, franchise support, and performance oversight across corporate and franchised locations. This role ensures operational excellence, brand consistency, regulatory compliance, and scalable growth through the development of standardized processes, training programs, and field coaching. The Director of Operations also serves as a key representative of the brand within the industry and works closely with executive leadership on strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Oversight

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) covering safety, sales, administrative, operations, training, and security functions across corporate and franchise locations.
  • Serve as the primary operational liaison and ensure adherence to brand standards.
  • Design and implement CAT (Catastrophe) response protocols to ensure franchise readiness, consistency, and performance during large-scale events.
  • Ensure operational compliance with OSHA, safety, and regulatory requirements across all supported locations.

Franchise Training & Development

  • Lead operational training for new franchisees, including marketing, sales, business operations, and other aspects of running a profitable and successful DUCTZ franchise.
  • Deliver technical and operational presentations to prospective franchisees as part of the franchise development and onboarding process.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, manuals, forms, templates, and technical documentation supporting operations, facilities, safety, and compliance.
  • Oversee training related operational best practices.

Regional Coaching & Support

  • Manage and coach a portfolio of franchisees through onsite visits, operational audits, compliance reviews, and ongoing professional development.
  • Provide operational support to franchise partners as needed.
  • Identify performance gaps and implement improvement strategies to drive operational excellence and brand consistency.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to franchise owners, promoting continuous improvement and sustainable growth.

Executive & Industry Representation

  • Represent the organization at Brand President meetings by preparing and presenting operational and financial performance updates.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for operational platforms such as Fran Connect/Sphere.
  • Contribute to industry publications, podcasts, interviews, and media as a brand and operational authority.
  • Represent or delegate the brand’s attendance at major industry conferences, trade shows, and events.

Governance, Vendor Management & Special Projects

  • Vet, manage, and oversee operational and support vendors to ensure alignment with brand standards and performance expectations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison and organizer for the Franchise Advisory Council, facilitating communication between franchisees and executive leadership.
  • Execute strategic initiatives, operational improvements, and special projects as directed by the Brand President.

Qualifications & Certifications

  • Extensive experience in operations leadership within franchise, restoration, HVAC cleaning, or service-based industries.
  • Previous experience in a franchise industry highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety compliance, and operational best practices.
  • Proven ability to develop SOPs, training programs, and scalable operational systems.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and leadership skills.

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to travel up to 40% of the time
  • Must be able bend, climb, and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to tolerate all weather conditions as training could be outdoors at times
  • The ability to communicate through video, email, in person and phone conversations
