Job Objective
The Product Engineer Level 1 supports the design, development, and testing of new products within the company’s portfolio. This role works closely with cross-functional teams including Process Development, Material Development, Prototyping, and Testing. The position involves learning from senior engineers and contributing to product development activities, with growing exposure to OEM collaboration.
Description Of Main Tasks
- Assist in identifying customer and company needs; support integration of market research into product requirements
- Support conceptualization of product ideas using CAD software under guidance
- Participate in prototype fabrication and testing activities
- Help evaluate materials, manufacturing processes, and design tolerances for product suitability
- Contribute to quantitative assessments of prototypes in line with industry and OEM standards
- Assist in analyzing existing products for improvement opportunities and updating documentation
- Support preparation of project plans including technical objectives and cost estimates
- Document project progress and communicate updates to stakeholders
- Help assess technical and commercial feasibility of product concepts
- Collaborate with OEM development teams to understand customer needs
- Perform special tasks or projects as assigned by management
- Support and learn from mentoring activities with interns and students
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- Experience: Internship or academic project experience in product development preferred
- Industry Knowledge: Automotive experience is a plus
- Technical Skills:
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and materials
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks)
- Exposure to CAE tools is a plus
- Proficiency in MS Office; MS Project is a plus

- Proactive and eager to learn
- Creative thinking and curiosity
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Team-oriented mindset
- Travel: Willingness to travel up to 15%
- Reporting Line: Functional reporting to Senior Product Engineer or Head of Innovation & Advanced Development
- Between Buisness Travel: This position will require travel to Howell (MI) at least 1 day a week in order to help facilitate with our production team.
