SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Technical Business Analyst serves as a liaison between business stakeholders, Product Management, and technology teams to support the delivery of business and technology solutions. They are responsible for bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions by evaluating business and technology requests and translating them into actionable requirements and solution approaches that align with organizational objectives. They collaborate closely with stakeholders, developers, QA, architects, and delivery teams throughout the software development lifecycle to support solution discovery, design, implementation, and validation activities.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate has experience working as a Business Analyst in pension, investments, or a related field. They are a good communicator with excellent listening and interpersonal skills. They have a solid understanding of technology and IT systems. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex business problems, break them down into manageable components, and propose effective solutions. The analyst is skilled at creating visual representations of business processes, such as flowcharts and diagrams that clearly represent business processes and technology systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, product owners, and delivery teams by clearly articulating business needs and translating them into actionable requirements.
  • Analyze and validate requirements and solution approaches to ensure alignment with business objectives, technical constraints, and stakeholder needs.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Project Managers, developers, and QA throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Evaluate business and technology requests and translate them into detailed business requirements , functional and non-functional requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Review functional requirements, data mappings, and solution designs with technical teams to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with implementation approach.
  • Create and maintain project artifacts such as workflows, data mappings, and functional specifications.
  • Lead UAT efforts, validating that delivered solutions meet business and functional requirements.
  • Manage and communicate changes to requirements, ensuring alignment across stakeholders and project teams.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Level II Senior Scope and Complexity of Work

Independently leads business analysis efforts for projects of varying size and complexity

Leads solution discovery efforts by evaluating business problems, exploring solution options, and recommending approaches aligned to business and technical constraints

Collaborates with technical teams to define solution components such as data flows, integrations, and system interactions

Manages the requirements lifecycle, including traceability, change management, and prioritization

Leads backlog refinement, sprint planning, and UAT efforts

Facilitates stakeholder discussions, identifying risks, gaps, and opportunities

Recommends solutions and improvements based on analysis of business needs and data insights

Owns requirements delivery end-to-end for most projects

Leads business analysis efforts for complex and enterprise-level initiatives

Leads solution design discussions by guiding stakeholders through trade-offs, risks, and impacts of different solution approaches

Ensures end-to-end solution alignment across business processes, systems, data, and user experience

Leads requirements elicitation, analysis, validation, and lifecycle management across initiatives

Drives solution evaluation to ensure delivered outcomes meet business needs and objectives

Balances strategic leadership with hands-on delivery across the project lifecycle

Establishes and evolves business analysis standards, templates, and best practices

Identifies and implements improvements to business analysis processes, tools, and practices

Shapes how business analysis is performed across teams, not just within individual projects

Preferred Education

Advanced training or coursework in business analysis, Agile methodologies, systems analysis, process modeling, or solution design preferred

Advanced education, certifications, or training in business analysis, Agile delivery, product management, leadership, or solution architecture preferred

Leadership

Works independently with minimal oversight

Influences stakeholders at the project level through clear communication and information-driven insights

Facilitates stakeholder discussions and alignment across project team

Builds strong relationships with stakeholders, development teams, and peers

Operates at both strategic and execution levels across initiatives

Influences decision-making at the program or enterprise level

Leads through mentorship, standards ownership, and cross-team alignment

Mentors and coaches Business Analysts to build capability and consistency

Guides less experienced analysts in navigating ambiguity and complex stakeholder environments

Knowledge

Strong experience in Agile and/or hybrid delivery environments

Demonstrated expertise in requirements elicitation, analysis, validation, and lifecycle management

Working knowledge of solution discovery, systems interactions, integrations, and data flows

Understanding of software development lifecycle practices and delivery methodologies

Advanced expertise across all business analysis knowledge areas including elicitation, analysis, lifecycle management, and solution evaluation

Strong experience with Agile and hybrid delivery methodologies

Advanced understanding of business processes, technology systems, integrations, and enterprise solution approaches

Understanding of organizational strategy and alignment of technology solutions to business objectives

Skills

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills

Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to varied audiences

Ability to independently navigate ambiguity and adapt approach based on context

Ability to analyze business problems and recommend effective solution approaches

Experience establishing BA standards and practices

Additional Requirements

3+ years of business analysis experience

Successfully completed CCBA or similar certification(s) preferred

7+ years of business analysis experience

Proven experience leading complex or enterprise initiatives

Successfully completed CBAP or similar certification(s) Certified Product Owner, Certified Scrum Master, or similar certifications preferred
